Without a goal, saving is abstract. With one, it's a countdown to something your kid actually wants.
Name it, give it an emoji, set a target amount. One goal per jar โ Give, Save & Invest, and Spend can each have one active goal running at the same time.
As money comes in and grows, kids watch their goal get closer. The app shows exactly where they are:
Status labels update as they get closer: "Just getting started ๐ฑ" โ "More than halfway! ๐ฅ" โ "Almost there! โญ"
Confetti, a "You did it! ๐" moment, and a "Claim your goal! ๐" button. All that saving pays off in a real, visible moment.
The money moves toward what they were saving for, through your normal approval flow. You follow through in the real world โ the app records it.
When a Save & Invest goal is claimed, kids choose where the money goes โ to Spend or to Give. This is the moment they decide what their saved (and grown!) money is actually for. A powerful choice.
"Goals teach kids to delay gratification โ one of the most important financial skills there is. Seeing a progress bar move is more motivating than watching a number grow. And claiming a goal they worked toward feels completely different from just being handed something."
Goals work best when kids choose them. These are a few common ones to spark the conversation.
