From signup to your first family money moment โ€” in under 30 minutes.

Seven steps to get your whole family set up and earning, saving, and growing together.

1
~5 min

Parent signs up.

Create your family account at app.mykids.money. You'll set your family name, currency, and go through a short onboarding that explains how everything works โ€” including choosing a growth rate you're comfortable committing to.

On the growth rate: the default is 75% APY paid daily โ€” high enough to make growth feel exciting, low enough to track by hand if you want to. You can change it anytime in Family Settings.
2
~2 min

Add your kids.

Add each child by name. You can add more later anytime โ€” there's no limit. Each child gets their own separate account, their own jars, and their own goals.

3
~5 min

Set up your first missions.

Go to Parent Mode (tap ๐Ÿ” and enter your PIN) โ†’ Family Hub โ†’ Missions. Create a few missions your kids can start earning from right away โ€” chores, reading, helping around the house. Set the reward, frequency, and which kids it applies to.

Tip: Start with 3โ€“4 missions. Too many choices at the start can feel overwhelming for younger kids. You can always add more.
4
~3 min

Install on your kid's tablet or phone.

My Kids Money is a web app โ€” no app store required. Just open a browser, go to app.mykids.money, and install it to the home screen:

iPhone / iPad
Open in Safari โ†’ tap the Share icon (โ–กโ†‘) โ†’ tap "Add to Home Screen" โ†’ name it "My Kids Money"
Android
Open in Chrome โ†’ tap the โ‹ฎ menu โ†’ tap "Add to Home Screen" โ†’ name it "My Kids Money"

It'll appear on their home screen just like a regular app โ€” with the ๐ŸŒฑ icon.

5
~5โ€“10 min

Sit together for the welcome.

This part is designed to do together. When your kid taps the app for the first time, they'll go through a short welcome โ€” pick their avatar, learn about their three jars, and see how saving grows.

Read it with them. Let them pick their avatar. Make it a moment โ€” this is the first impression the app makes, and doing it together sets the tone for everything that follows.
6
~5 min

Set their first goal.

While you're together, help them set a goal in their Spend jar โ€” something they actually want. This gives saving an immediate purpose and makes the first deposit feel meaningful rather than abstract.

Let them choose. Don't suggest the goal โ€” ask what they want to save for. Ownership over the goal is what makes them check the progress bar every day.
7
The moment it clicks

Log their first deposit together.

Give them some money โ€” even a small amount โ€” and let them log it in the app themselves. Watch the pie chart split it into three jars. Let them see the one-year projection update in real time.

This is the moment the lesson lands. The abstract idea of "save some, give some, spend some" becomes real and visual. Most kids are hooked after this.

You're off!

Here's what the day-to-day looks like once you're set up:

๐ŸŒฑ
Check in daily โ€” the Save & Invest jar grows a little every day. Kids love checking their balance in the morning.
โœ…
Approve missions as your kids complete them โ€” takes 5 seconds with your PIN.
๐ŸŽฏ
Watch goals fill up and celebrate when they're reached โ€” the app makes it a moment.
โš™๏ธ
Adjust your growth rate anytime in Family Settings โ€” and use it as a teaching moment if life changes the rate.
